Information for Inmate/Family


Fees

  • Every inmate will be charged a fifty-dollar ($50) booking fee and a daily ten-dollar ($10) per diem.
  • After release, inmates have thirty (30) days to make a payment on fees owed.

Money

  • Currently Ohio County Detention Center only accepts cash
  • Money can be received at any given time, as our facilities are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year. Upon making a deposit, a receipt will be issued for your records.
  • All money received Mon-Thurs will be held in a safe until the next business day, at which time it will be given to the designated inmate.
  • Large bills will not be accepted. $1, $5, and $10 bills only.
  • Inmate’s will be billed any medical/medication at cost.

Combined Public Communications: Prepaid phones, Chirp devices, and video visitation

  • Family and friends can set-up accounts for prepaid phone calls, video visitations, and minutes for Chirps from outside the facility. To create an account, contact CPC Customer Service by calling 1-877-988-5678 or online at www.inmatesales.com.
  • Every new intake will be allowed one (1) free three-minute phone card.
  • Every inmate will be eligible for a Chirp device after being incarcerated for five (5) days.

Clothing
Family and friends can bring inmates the following items Monday - Friday, 7 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Items must be new and in the original, unopened packaging

  • Six (6) pairs of white socks
  • Six (6) pairs of white underwear
  • Six (6) white t-shirts
  • One (1) bra (females only)
  • One (1) gray sweatshirt (November-February)
  • One (1) gray pair of sweatpants without pockets or strings (November-February)
  • One (1) pair of shower shoes (no buckles, snaps or straps)
  • One (1) soft back bible

Medications

  • Ohio County Detention Center is a non-narcotic facility
  • Prescribed medications can be dropped off at any time (24/7/365)
  • All medications must be in the proper container with an unaltered label.
  • All medications for inmates must be prescribed to that inmate.

Mail

Starting April 24th, 2023, all mail will need to be sent to the below addresses.
Mail received at other addresses will be rejected.

ANY MAIL DEEMED TO NOT MEET THE BELOW GUIDELINES WILL BE DESTROYED
  1. All incoming mail must be addressed with the Inmate name and Inmate ID
  2. All incoming mail must have a return address on the envelope
  3. All incoming mail must be no larger than 8 1/2 x 11 inches (letter size), no thicker than light card stock and able to be fed through a sheet fed scanner
  4. All incoming mail shall be opened and inspected or read to determine if contraband is enclosed or any violation of jail rules has occurred. If such is found mail will be destroyed and not returned.
  5. Prohibited Mail
  1. Stamps
  2. Blank envelopes
  3. Stationary
  4. Cash, checks, or any other forms of currency
  5. Threats of physical harm against any person or threats/details of criminal activity
  6. Plans to smuggle contraband into or out of the institution
  7. Information to formulate escape plans, to commit a crime or to violate a jail rule
  8. Solicitation of gifts, goods, money, or things of value from individuals or entities other than family or established close friends
  9. Code or gang insignia
  10. Obscene language or drawings
  1. Information that, if communicated, would create a threat to the security of the institution
  2. None of the following may be included or attached:
    1. Address labels
    2. Stickers
    3. Homemade cards
    4. Musical cards
    5. Non-white envelopes or paper
    6. Paintings
    7. Tracing paper
    8. Pages from coloring books
    9. Drawings in colored ink, marker, crayon or glitter
    10. Raised decorations
    11. Paint or the use of white out, glue or any other liquid form

  1. Pictures are the only enclosures permitted to be mailed to inmates.
    1. Each inmate is allowed up to 10 photographs per package, but these MUST be printed on photo paper
    2. Printouts from the internet, colored pages, and provocative material (i) are not permitted and will be destroyed
      1. Provocative is generally defined as follows: "Causing annoyance, anger, or another strong reaction” or “arousing sexual desire or interest.”
  2. Return to Sender Items
    1. Legal mail (Not sent to 108 East Washington Street, Hartford, KY 42347).
    2. Certified mail requiring inmate signature.
    3. Mail with postage due.
