Ohio County Detention Center is one of three remaining Life Safety jails in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Of the three Life Safety jails, the Ohio County Detention Center is the largest, housing fifty-two (52) inmates. When the current facility was built in 1941, the Jailer and his family lived above the Jail. The Ohio County Detention Center is on the National Register of Historic Places.
